Emirates ID Status In Dubai
The Emirates ID becomes your gateway to access almost everything in the UAE, including driving license and healthcare to government offices. It also becomes the source of paying bills and buying or renting cars/vehicles.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship will issue this card to the residents. You have to carry this ID card with you every time. The card has your name, a 15-digit number, and your latest photo, and your nationality.
Do I Need Emirates ID?
Yes, every resident in the UAE, local and ex-pat, should hold an Emirates ID, including adults, kids, and newborns. Ensure you initiate the process sooner than later.
Emirates ID Requirements
Firstly, you have to fill out an application form for the ID and pay a fee of AED 100. Thereafter, you shall receive an SMS on the registered phone with a location and time for the appointment. At the appointment, you have to provide your biometrics.
Meanwhile, you can also visit a listed medical centre for medical clearance. There, you would have to do a blood and chest X-ray.
If any abnormalities are seen, such as Tuberculosis or HIV, you receive a conditional certificate for fitness and a one-year UAE family visa as a resident. Moreover, you have to undergo necessary treatments as well. In case you are diagnosed with HIV, you would be deported with immediate effect.
Once the results arrive and you pass, take the scheduled appointment and carry your original passport and Emirates ID original application.
At the scheduled appointment, your biometrics would be taken. Thereafter, you would receive text updates and you can check the status too. Provide your official P.O. Box for quick delivery. Generally, an ID is ready within 10 days.
Uses of Emirates ID
Emirates ID is the main identity card in the UAE. You have to carry the original card everywhere with you. You will need the card for:

When Should I Renew the Emirates ID?
You should renew the Emirates ID at least 30 days before the date of expiry.
