Auger cast piles are another name for CFA Piles used by Piling contractors in construction procedures. It offers a rapid, affordable, low-noise, and low-vibration method of building piles for medium- to heavily-loaded buildings. For cohesiveness, non-cohesive, or liquid-bearing soils, the CFA pile building technology avoids the requirement for support liquid or enclosures. The method can work close to preexisting structures or even in ecologically sensitive areas.
Overview
This particular style of drilled foundations uses a continuous flight auger that could drill the pile towards its full depth inside a single operation. Soil is inserted into slots of the drill by Piling contractors as it is being driven further into the surface, providing lateral assistance and preserving the sturdiness of the borehole.
Concrete is poured while the drills have been removed from the pit in the construction process by piling contractors. This is done by pushing the grout mixture through the central cavity of the bore pipe towards the base. A borehole isn’t ever left open. The cement mortar is poured while the auger is just being withdrawn. Support is inserted into the cavity filled with fluid concrete to finish the piling.
Construction Procedure:
- The auger’s boring head is equipped with an extendable cover.
- To the necessary depth, the auger gets drilled into the earth.
Concrete is injected by Piling contractors through the empty shaft to refill the hole as the drill is removed after reaching the piling toe depth. The combined injection of concrete during auger withdrawal provides constant reinforcement for the hole.
Just after the auger gets withdrawn from the liquid concrete somewhere at the end of concrete casting, a steel reinforcing enclosure is immediately inserted. Splices and thresholds are eliminated with constant flight auger piling.
It differs from cast-in-place piles in that reinforcing is inserted into the concrete-filled hole. Approximately 12 meters constitute the typical range for reinforcement bars for CONTINUOUS FLIGHT AUGER (CFA) PILING. Longer extensions can be fitted with the help of caged vibrators.
Advantages:
Pile construction does not involve any substantial vibrations or loud noises.
- In comparison to certain other holes, CONTINUOUS FLIGHT AUGER (CFA) PILING heaps are easy to install.
- On problematic grounds, this pile doesn’t require a provisional casing.
- The utilization of strong rigs speeds up the foundation construction process.
- The method is affordable when done on a wide scale.
- They work well in a variety of difficult terrain situations.
- Piling equipment could be modified to work in cramped spaces with little headroom.
Applications
Continual flight auger foundations are employed for areas with high underground water levels and unpredictable soil conditions. Since they continue to function, such piles can be carried too strong load-bearing formations or stopped in clay particles, grainy soils, softer rock, or frictional piles.
CONTINUOUS FLIGHT AUGER (CFA) PILING creates lower vibrations and noises during construction. They are employed in multi-story structures and other locations where excessive pile construction noise is prohibited.
For areas with higher water levels or unstable ground conditions, CONTINUOUS FLIGHT AUGER (CFA) PILING should be employed. Such piles could be carried for strong load-bearing stratum or stopped in clays, grainy soils, softer rock, or other materials. Owing to their constant functioning, these piles are of the bearings or friction variety.
CFA piles generally get used for multi-story structures or locations where loud pile placement is prohibited. This is because CFA piles are less noisy and vibrational throughout the installation.
