Diagnosed

Mammograms are advised for women over 40 years old to identify breast cancer earlier. Some experts suggest an additional ultrasound for women over 50 to reduce screening to every two years.

  • Mammogram: Mammograms use X-rays to look at calcium spots on the breasts. It could be an indication of cancer that is beginning to develop. A variety of non-cancerous reasons could also cause the areas of calcium. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not recommended times for treatment.
  • Ultrasound: Ultrasounds are the exact method used to monitor the baby’s development during pregnancy, so they are safe. It can help detect lumps and determine whether a chunk is either cystic or solid (“water”). The majority of specialists do not employ ultrasound to screen for cancer since most lumps that are detected aren’t cancerous. In contrast, the cancerous bow could be in an advanced stage compared with cancer detected through the mammogram.

Breast Infections & Breastfeeding Complications

Breast infections, including abscess or mastitis, are most likely to occur during breastfeeding for pregnant women. Breast swelling could result from clogged drainage of milk, broken nipples or mouth-borne bacteria. Contact a physician immediately when your breasts are tender, red and hot or if you are suffering from flu-like symptoms and a fever.

Breast Cancer Surgery & Treatment

The main sign of breast cancer involves a lump or mass of breast tissue. But, not all breast lumps are cancerous. They should be examined for treatment by a doctor. There are many types of treatment based on the kind of cancer and the patients’ medical conditions. Consult a professional to find the most effective treatment to suit your needs.

Conditions Of The Breast

Breast cancer is not an issue for the majority of breast issues. If you are experiencing discomfort in your breasts, lump/hardness and itchiness, or even discharge from a nipple, consult a physician to seek treatment and identify any potential problems early.
